Smoke-free movies: From evidence to action

This report underlines the fact that, in some countries, many of the youth-rated films that contain tobacco imagery are the recipients of significant government production subsidies. WHO calls for enforceable policies to restrict smoking in movies, including the end of public subsidies for the production of movies with smoking. The report reminds Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control that they are required to implement a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship according to Article 13 of the treaty.
Tobacco industry tactics and plans to undermine tobacco control efforts

This document aims to expose the varied attempts used by tobacco companies to undermine the work of international organizations and governments in reducing the increase in tobacco use, an epidemic deadlier than history’s most destructive wars. Attention is not only being drawn to their attempts but also to the efforts and innovative initiatives being used to counter their tactics and pursue the goal of a healthy, smoke-free world.
