February updates
- A total of 1 511 people (including 785 children under five years of age and 520 women) received lifesaving health services in two targeted districts; Baidoa and Berdale district of Bay region this month through the funding received from UN-CERF.
- Cholera cases continue to be reported in Banadir, Hiran and middle Shabelle region. The total cases reported in 2020 are 1781 with 10 deaths.
- Surveillance data from the Early Warning Alert and Response Network (EWARN) recorded 465 342 consultations in 412 (77%) out of 535 health facilities during the month of February 2020
- Diseases causing the highest morbidity were acute respiratory infections (31 022 cases) and acute diarrhoea (21 262 cases).
- In February 2020, cluster of AWD/cholera cases were reported from Jowhar district. 10 stool samples were collected and analysed, of which six were positive for Vibrio cholerae.
- In February 2020, a total of 312 injuries were reported from Jubbaland, Galmudug, Southwest state and Banadir Region (17 were children under five years of age and 102 were female).

Situation weekly polio update: week 5 2020
- One new circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) - positive sewage sample has been identified this week from an environmental surveillance (ES) site in Mogadishu, collected on 5 January. This brings the total number of cVDPV2 isolated from ES in 2019 and 2020 to six.
- No new cases of children with cVDPV2 were reported this week. The date of onset of the most recent case of cVDPV2 in a child with acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) was 8 May 2019. A total of three cVDPV2 cases were reported in Somalia in 2019.
- No new circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 3 (cVDPV3) - positive cases or environmental samples were identified in 2019 or 2020 to date. The date of onset of the most recent case of cVDPV3 in a child with AFP was 7 September 2.

Key updates, 20 December 2018
No new human cases reported from Somalia for three consecutive weeks. The total number of cases remains 12: five cVDPV2 cases, six cVDPV3 cases, and one case with cVDPV2 and cVDPV3 co-infection.
All outbreak response activities for 2018 have been completed; planning is underway to design the 2019 vaccination activities and detail phase two of the outbreak response plan.
