The African Development Bank has agreed to provide financing to the World Health Organization (WHO) Sudan to implement the Integrated Health Emergency Project (IHEP) to support the people of Sudan. As one of the requirements of the Financing Agreement WHO (the recipient) is responsible for ensuring that the project is executed in accordance with the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), meeting all the requirements of the Bank’s Environmental and Social Operational Safeguards (OS), as well as national policies and legal obligations.
The ESMP outlines the specific measures and actions the recipient must adhere to, ensuring compliance. The Bank will monitor and evaluate the progress and completion of these actions throughout project implementation. As per the agreement between the Bank and WHO Sudan, the ESMP may be updated periodically during the project’s execution to accommodate adaptive risk management, changes in the project, unforeseen circumstances, or based on assessments conducted under the ESMP.
