Dr Ibrahim El-Ziq, WHO Representative for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain
Dr Ibrahim El-Ziq is a public health professional with almost 30 years' experience in the field of health development, policy, planning and management in many countries, including Bulgaria, Denmark, Egypt, Lebanon, occupied Palestinian territory, Pakistan, the Philippines, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
He has worked closely with senior government officials in various countries to guide, support and facilitate policy development and implementation through development and health reform programmes and worked with major donors such as the European Union, the United Kingdom's Department for International Development and the United Nations.
He has held various posts, including UNICEF's Regional Representative to member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, UNICEF's Chief of Immunization in Denmark, Chief of Health and Nutrition at UNICEF in Pakistan, senior Health Advisor to the European Union, Deputy Director at Harvard Institute for International Development, Harvard University and Senior Health Advisor at the United Kingdom's Department for International Development.
In addition to his overseas experience, he worked as a clinician and a medical manager in several London teaching hospitals.
