From 16 to 18 March 2016, representatives from national ethics councils, national bioethics committees and members of international organizations working in the field of life sciences will gather in Berlin, Germany, for the Eleventh Global Summit of National Ethics/Bioethics Committees.
The Global Summit is the most important international meeting of National Ethics and Bioethics Committees for dialogue and exchange on bioethical questions as well as issues in the life sciences.
The objectives of the Summit are to:
- identify ethical issues of global concern, review latest evidence and the national debates around those issues, and identify common approaches;
- provide a forum to national ethics committees to network and exchange ideas on common needs and challenges and learn from other national ethics committees;
- provide opportunities to NECs to compare approaches to managing the ethical issues relevant to the elaboration and implementation of public health policies and research activities in their countries;
- provide the space and opportunity to convene regional forums of national ethics committees.
