10 June 2021 – In line with "WHO’s strategy for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, 2020–2023: turning Vision 2023 into action" and to support the work of WHO collaborating centres in the Region, the Regional Office's Department of Science, Information and Dissemination held a virtual training course on WHO collaborating centres for staff of WHO Health Emergencies Programme on 7 June.
Trainers from the WHO Regional Office and headquarters facilitated the training.
The objectives were to:
orient participants on WHO collaborating centres' policies and procedures;
share the status of WHO collaborating centres in the Eastern Mediterranean Region;
deliver practical training on using the e-collaborating centre system and global database; and
respond to questions.
The main outcome of the virtual workshop was to better orientate participants on the work of WHO collaborating centres and plan opportunities for (re)designation of institutions in the Region as WHO collaborating centres.
