WHO Pakistan commemorates World Patient Safety Day 2024 23 September 2024 – To commemorate #WorldPatientSafetyDay2024, World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination, organized an awareness raising walk and advocacy seminar to foster collective efforts to improve diagnosis.

Representatives from WHO, Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination, the National Institute of Health, the private sector and academia participated in the walk carrying banners with the slogans #Improvingdiagnisisforpatientsafety, #Safehealthcarepractices and #Getitrightmakeitsafe!

#WorldPatientSafetyDay2024 saw the launch of a new 6-month diploma course on patient safety in health care settings to help build the capacities of health care professionals to improve patient safety. The curriculum, jointly developed by WHO, Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, equips future health care professionals with the skills and knowledge to identify, prevent and address patient safety risks.

WHO Pakistan commemorates World Patient Safety Day 2024“While commemorating #WorldPatientSafetyDay2024, WHO calls for concerted efforts to reduce diagnostic errors through multifaceted interventions and active engagement of patients, their families, health workers and health care leaders,” said WHO Representative in Pakistan Dr Luo Dapeng.

During the event, shields of appreciation were distributed to patient safety champions from hospitals and primary health care facilities to recognize their efforts in implementing WHO’s patient safety friendly hospital framework.
