Oman hosted the WHO Leadership for Health Programmes from 8 to 18 February 2015. This programme is an initiative of the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. It aims to strengthen the capacity of public health in countries of the Region. This 4-week-long intensive programme offered, in collaboration with the Harvard School of Public Health, trained 25 current and future public health leaders. This two part focuses includes a health diplomacy and communication module in WHO/HQ and the health policy transformation module in Oman. As part of the training, participants will attended selected technical discussions at the WHO Executive Board in Geneva and visit WHO technical departments. The WHO Regional Director, Dr Ala Alwan, attended the opening session of the course in Oman.
