In its efforts to improve health system performance the Ministry of Health of Oman is commited to establishing a national health accounting system. National health accounts (NHA) provide a systematic method to monitor the financial resource flows of a country’s health system.
Two years ago, with WHO support, Oman embarked on initiating an NHA system in the country. During May 2014, three Ministry of Health officials will be visiting Egypt to attend a five-day WHO regional workshop on health financing and will then spend a week with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population to learn about the Egyptian experience of establishing an NHA system.
