The Ministry of Health held a national workshop on health system financing from 26 to 27 March 2013 in close collaboration with WHO. The main objective of the workshop was to train mid-level managers on health financing, a key building block of a health system.
The way health systems are financed is a key determinant for universal coverage of health care. It determines whether health services exist and are available and also whether people can afford to use the health services when they need them. The increasing costs of health care and the scarcity of funds for health is a constraint most countries face. However, all countries can do more with available resources and reduce inefficiencies.
