20 June, 2022 - A patient safety mission is taking place from 19-23 of June 2022 in collaboration with the Directorate General of Quality Assurance Center, Ministry of Health (MOH-DGQAC) and WHO aiming to launch the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework (PSFHF). It is worth mentioning that the country has already 15 hospitals designated as patient safety friendly.
During the current one-week mission, two additional hospitals are prepared to start the patient safety journey, including Royal and Samail Hospital. The mission will include practical sessions to train the participants on the PSFHF manual. Almost 150 participants will have the chance to explore the PSFHF manual and dig deeper into the content.
During the current mission, Oman is also preparing for the launch of the Patient Safety Friendly Primary Health Care Framework (PSFPHCF). This launch will be the first of its kind in Oman and will include a National Orientation Workshop that will include 10 Primary Health Centres (PHCs). A total of 120 participants will attend the theoretical and practical sessions to learn more about the PSFPHCF manual. This is an important milestone for the PHCs in the country as well.
The WHO Representative in Oman delivered the opening remarks appraising the leading role of Oman in patient safety and appreciating the lead of Patient Safety Regional Advisor, Dr. Mondher Letaief, to this mission composed of three WHO consultants, concerned staff from WHO Oman country office as well as officials from the Directorate General of Quality Assurance Center at the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman.
