Development of strategic plan for rehabilitation services, 15–19 December 2012

A one-week WHO mission to assist with the development of a detailed plan for rehabilitation services took place from 15 to 19 December 2012. The mission noted the remarkable improvements that have taken place within both the health and social sectors in rehabilitation services. The mission noted the increasing demands for rehabilitation services due to age-related disabilities (such as stroke and diabetes) and road traffic injuries (such as spinal cord injuries) and outlined a plan to strengthen the delivery of rehabilitation services through a coordinated effort of a team of professionals following the biopsychosocial model approach of the International Classification of Functions.
