Mental health atlas 2020: review of the Eastern Mediterranean Region

The recently released 2020 edition of the mental health atlas is used to track progress in implementing WHO’s Comprehensive Mental Health Action Plan 2013–2020. The 2020 edition is based on 2019 data and enables monitoring of progress towards meeting these targets. Additionally, it provides baseline values for agreed Comprehensive Mental Health Action Plan targets for 2030: further rounds of the mental health atlas will enable monitoring of progress towards meeting these targets. Freshly endorsed indicators include the integration of mental health into primary health care and preparedness in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) during emergencies.

Mental health atlas 2017 country profiles

These country profiles provide a baseline for monitoring trends and assessing the progress of countries in addressing the burden of mental health disorders in the Region. Each profile includes data on mental health policies, plans, financing, care delivery, human resources, medicines and information systems.

Atlas: child, adolescent and maternal mental health resources in the Eastern Mediterranean Region

In 2010, this atlas was developed to map child, adolescent and maternal mental health resources in countries of the Region, with information collected for 19 countries. The data collection tool assessed a number of key components: public policy and legislation; mental health services; health care financing; human resources; data collection and quality assurance; medications and other treatment modalities; promotion and prevention of psychiatric problems and social, cultural and religious factors impacting maternal, child and adolescent mental health.
