First regional training course on malaria elimination, 17-22 November 2012

The first regional training course on malaria elimination will take place in Luxor, Egypt, from 17 to 22 November 2012.  This course is designed to provide trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop a national plan for malaria elimination. 

The aim of the training is to improve the participants’ capacity in critical synthesis of malaria epidemiology and relevant health system determinants for assessment of the feasibility of national and subnational malaria elimination, and to select and plan appropriate strategies and approaches for malaria elimination.

The course is designed for health professionals who, in their work, have responsibility for the planning, management and evaluation of malaria control and elimination programmes. They may include medical officers, public health officers, parasitologist, entomologists and health economists involved in malaria control and elimination, who are working with a national programme, a research institution or a nongovernmental organization.
