Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a major public health problem in Libya and a recent outbreak of a severe form of the disease in Tawerga necessitated the provision of special training in dealing with patients. Unless treated probably the disease can cause disfigurement.
‘’Now well-trained teams can provide safe and quality treatment. And the fact the doctors are from Tawerga means patients will receive proper follow up care,’’ said Dr Jaffar Hussein, WHO Representative for Libya.
