No cases of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) yet reported in Lebanon

Any individual who is suspected of having the virus will be followed up on by phone by the communicable disease department at the Ministry of Public Health.

WHO is following-up with the national reference laboratory at the Rafik Hariri University Hospital to obtain the coronavirus primers from WHO to be able to confirm cases.

All hospitals have received detailed guidance for diagnosis, prevention and care related to the coronavirus. Provisions have been made for the safety of patients and staff at the Rafik Hariri University Hospital through a 4-bed capacity for isolation and use of personal protective equipment, as well as the availability of well trained staff.

Although no medicine has been developed yet, it is advisable to adhere to basic safety and hygiene procedures as a preventive measure.

A total of 20 596 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported globally to date (4 Febraury 2020). This figure keeps increasing.

For the latest updates on coronavirus visit the WHO website. So far in the Region only 5 cases have been reported and are being treated in United Arab Emirates.
