WHO team visits Baalbek Hermel to assess ongoing measles campaign

December 2020 – A team from WHO Lebanon country office visited several areas in the Baalbeck Hermel muhafaza on 12 December 2019 to oversee the measles campaign in the area. The trip was initiated with a visit to the health district office to meet with the Qadaa physician Dr Mohamad Hajj Hassan and the Ministry of Public Health primary health care coordinator Safa Slaiman for a briefing on the campaign proceedings in Baalbeck Hermel.

WHO Representative in Lebanon Dr Iman Shankiiti and WHO Epidemiologist Pamela Mrad proceeded to inspect a few teams to monitor the vaccination process. They visited a school in Laat-Baalbeck and held a meeting with mayor Hussein Abdel Sater and school director Nadim Abdel Sater, followed by another meeting in Deir el Ahmar where they met with the vice president Sami Habchi and school director Jamila Khoury. Their last stop was at the informal settlements in Yammouneh with a short stop at the Yammouneh municipality.
