The regional strategy for strengthening of health laboratory services aims to support Member States in providing comprehensive laboratory services to contribute to improved health outcomes in the Region. It provides guidance and impetus to the countries to view laboratory services not as a small component of a vertical health programme but as a critical cross-cutting support service that needs to become an integral component of the health system at all levels.
