As part of the visit H.E the Minster of Health and WHO Regional Director signed the Country Cooperation Strategy for WHO and Jordan 2021–2025 – a document guiding WHO’s framework for collaboration and support to Jordan based on national health priorities.
This visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the agenda of the Seventy-fifth World Health Assembly, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 22–28 May 2022, and the contribution of Jordan’s delegation to the Health Assembly. The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO, and its upcoming session is particularly important as the world is still responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Building on lessons learnt from the COVID-19 response, especially recognition of the need for improved multisectoral collaboration, Jordan is moving on track in the right direction to enhance resilience of the health system," H.E Professor Feras Hawari stated.
WHO Representative to Jordan Dr Al-Raiby acknowledged the leadership role of the Ministry of Health and reiterated WHO's continuing support to further improve the health sector's responsiveness to population needs.
