A Capcity Building Workshop on "Mapping health care financing and assessing social health protection in the Eastern Mediterranean Region: an organizational and institutional assessment" has taken place at EMRO, Cairo, Egypt, 16-18 July 2012.
The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the OASIS tool to regional health financing experts and practitioners and to plan its implementation in all Member States of the Region.
This will help to complete the assessment of the three functions of health care financing in all countries and to identify the health financing reforms needed to promote universal health care.
The objectives of the workshop were to:
standardize and update the knowledge of national experts in the area of health care financing
familiarize health financing experts and practitioners with the OASIS approach and institutional design thinking as a way of undertaking a comprehensive health financing system review
identify data/information requirements for applying the OASIS approach in Member States of the Eastern Mediterranean Region
develop a plan of action for undertaking comprehensive health financing system reviews using the OASIS approach in the Region in order to identify potential options and actions that serve to accelerate progress towards universal coverage.
