29 July 2022 – On 29 June, WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean and WHO country office in Egypt, along with the International Hospital Federation and the Healthcare Financial Management Association launched an online hospital financial management course for non-financial managers in Egypt.
Since financial management play a central role in making informed decisions associated with today’s health systems and are critical to improving health care. This short self-paced course aims to equip hospital managers with financial management knowledge and its fundamentals. The course is scheduled to roll out gradually in other countries of the Region.
The launch included speeches and presentations from representatives of the different organizations. During the opening remarks, WHO Representative to Egypt Dr Naeema Al Gasseer stressed the importance of good financial management and efficient uses of resources in Egypt to ensure a people-centred service delivery. Chief Executive Officer of the International Hospital Federation and Regional Advisor for Health Care Management in the WHO Regional Office Dr Hamid reiterated the importance of effective hospital financial management in strengthening the hospital sector.
