25 August 2016 – On 23 August 2016, the WHO office in Egypt, in collaboration with the Embassy of Chile, organized a seminar on social health insurance in which a health system expert from Chile presented Chilean social health insurance system.
This seminar was held under patronage of HE Dr Ahmed Emad Eldin Rady, Minister of Health and Population in Egypt, aiming at exchanging experience in social health insurance between Chile and Egypt.
During this successful seminar, participants were engage in serious and objective discussions for getting deep understanding of the Chilean health insurance system, its coverage level, governance, organizational structure and its implementation arrangements, – understand its strengths and challenges and most important, how these challenges are being addressed and managed, bearing in mind Egypt’s context, its socioeconomic and political environment, health system structure, challenges and opportunities.
The seminar is a continuation of WHO Egypt’s office efforts to support Egypt’s health system and social health insurance through building capacity and knowledge of stakeholders from the Ministry and beyond, as well as convening expertise from WHO headquarters, Regional Office and country office, international expertise from countries such as Chile, Korea, Mexico, Japan and other development partners through recruiting experts, arranging workshops, seminars and study tours.
