Young leaders against tobacco: WHO Jordan launches the Well-being Ambassadors initiative
17 February 2025, Amman, Jordan – Under the patronage of HRH Princess Dina Mired, the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Jordan launched the Well-being Ambassadors initiative with participation from universities, civil society organizations, UN agencies and government representatives The initiative seeks to equip youth with the tools needed to create smoke-free environments in their communities. At the heart of the initiative is a 1-year training programme which has been designed to allow students to become advocates for public health. Trainees will receive leadership, communication, debate and community engagement skills training and in-depth knowledge on the health and economic impacts of tobacco. The launch event saw representatives from government ministries, universities, UN agencies and civil society organizations come together to reinforce their commitment to tobacco control.
