25 December 2014 | Geneva - The WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office in collaboration with UNESCWA and UNFPA organized a training workshop on “Demographic methods for assessing the completeness of death registration” in the WHO Regional Office, Cairo, from 15 to 18 December 2014.
The workshop comes in the framework of promoting and implementing the Regional Strategy for Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Systems (CRVS) in the Region. It was attended by regional focal points working in the area of demographic analysis.
Among the objectives of the workshop was the enhancement of statistical capacities of participants in concepts and methodologies of demographic estimation, including the assessment of death registration.
Ms Jane Nicholson, Acting Director of Information, Evidence and Research inaugurated the workshop, followed by opening remarks from UNESCWA and UNFPA representatives.
