Strategy and policy
With the goal of ensuring universal access to safe blood, WHO has been at the forefront of the movement to improve blood safety as mandated by successive World Health Assembly resolutions, the earliest dating from 1975.
WHO advocates the implementation of its global strategy for blood safety and provides ongoing policy guidance and technical support to Member States on its implementation.
