The Global Fund to Fights AIDs, TB and Malaria is a multi-billion dollar international financing mechanism intended to help advance the fight against AIDs, tuberculosis and malaria by dramatically increasing the availability of funding for practical health initiatives.
Funded activities include both piloting of new innovative programmes and scaling up of existing interventions. Proposals to the Global Fund are submitted through the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM). The CCM includes representatives from the public and private sector, including governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, nongovernmental organizations, academic institutions, private businesses and people living with the diseases.
These partnerships develop and submit grant proposals to the Global Fund based on priority needs at the national level. After grant approval, they oversee progress during implementation of activities.
