Kabul, November 3, 2021 – Over 4 metric tonnes of life-saving medical supplies provided by WHO to help the people of Afghanistan arrived in Kabul today, thanks to the support of ECHO (European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid) via the European Union (EU) Humanitarian Airbridge.

“These medicines and medical equipment will serve more than 90 000 people, saving lives and protecting health,” said Dr Dapeng Luo, WHO Representative in Afghanistan. “This is a critical part of WHO’s continuing effort to respond to the ongoing emergency in Afghanistan”.

This is the fourth such delivery of airlifted supplies supported by ECHO. To date, enough medical supplies to serve over 269 000 people have been delivered as a result of this effort.
